Windows 10: Mapped Drive / Folder Redirection keeps dropping connection on client PC over Ethernet, any...

Hello everyone,I'm running into some domain issues at the moment, and could use some help.We have 2 clients in the same room connected to our domain, that have both Folder Redirection enabled and mapped drives for sharing and accessing files from any workstation. This has worked well with the rest of the clients 3 others; Nobody else is having connectivity issues except these two. One of the clients is connected over Ethernet, and the other is connected over Wi-Fi. Every now and again, the client machines more often the one with Ethernet will lose connection to mapped drives and "online" f

Ethernet Connection Occasionally Drops

On occasion my ethernet connection drops and an auto-configuration address gets assigned by Windows 10. I purchased an ethernet card thinking the problem with the ethernet that is built into the motherboard, but the ethernet connection still randomly drops. The ethernet connection will randomly start working again. Yes, I disabled the onboard ethernet in the BIOS, so conflicts would not be an issue. I have no idea if the issue can be fixed or not. I have had this issue since I purchased this used computer in 2019. If it is the motherboard, then I will just live it with until the computer is replaced. I realize the issue is probably not easily fixable, but any suggestions will be appreciated. The DNS shown is the DNS of my VPN provider. Let me know if you need any other information.

 

Connecting NAS - mapping of drives

Desktop PC running W10 Pro 21H1

I have a D-Link DSN-323 2 bay NAS storage device

Connected by ethernet to my home hub, I use it for backups.



It maps the 2 x 1 TB drives as volume Y & Z this was achieved using the 'easy connect utility'


Went to add backups last week and both Y&Z did not show in my computer
I rerun the Easy Connect Utility .... it detects drive, and gives me the 2 volumes - but when I select a volume and try to Map it I get the error "Failed to Map "



Anybody any suggestions ? .....
I can see the NAS IP address, Netmask and gateway
DCP is enabled
I can see the 2 volumes




Is there something I need to add to allow connections in W10 ?

 

Map Network Drive issue

Hi there

Connect Network drive defaults to starting at "Z" and working backwards but using the drop down in file explorer you can assign it to any unused letter
