Windows 10: Mapped Drive in Win10/Server2019 workgroup suddenly broke

Hi all, I am working on a strange issue that I have not encountered before. I have a user where their core application is stored on a mapped network drive from a file server. They are running Win10 and the file server is Server 2019. There is no domain and the permissions are set to Everyone on the mapped drive. The user has had this mapping for years now and all of a sudden, the mapping broke. When trying to reconnect the mapping it is asking for an admin account that they do know the creds for anymore. Hi! I'm having a problem with the Custom Scan operation in Windows Defender. I use this frequently on my local machine, but when I try to scan my NAS (mapped as "H") it fails taking anywhere from several seconds to 13-minutes but always showing 0 files scanned. The topology is all gigabit ethernet: Desktop > LAN > switch > LAN > NAS. My computer is part of a small workgroup, DHCP is handled by LAN-wired router, and the NAS is a Drobo. I'm running Windows 10 Pro x64 v1909 build 18363.778

I have tried the following:

• Tut 70530 Local Group Policy Editor | Include Mapped Drive on Full Scan -- no joy
• Tut 70530 Registry hack | Include Mapped Drive on Full Scan -- no joy
• Tut 152869 Registry hack | Scan Network Files -- no joy

It seems no matter what I do I can't get WD-AV to scan my mapped NAS or any part thereof. I did just see that the latest definitions broke WD, so maybe that's it. Both registry hacks above are still in place, I put the policy setting back to default.

Any suggestions?

Mapped Drives Issues

To clarify .... the issue is the Windows 10 OS. It is with Windows File Explorer. The Mapped drives used to appear in File Explorer's left panel list of drives and folders. Two days ago File explorer stopped show the mapped drives. so not they don;t appear in the list of Drives and folders.

I did, it has no effect. I also check the NAS devices they support SMB 2.0. Also I have several other computers on my home network they work fine with the mapped drives and They do not have SMB 1 turned on. So it is something that happened to the computer in question.

 

Mapped Network Drive Disconnects and Will Not Reconnect

OS:Windows 10 V20H2
PC: Dell XPS8940
Router: Netgear R7000 w/ TomatoUSB

• Nine of ten mapped network drives on my desktop PC behave normally! The tenth is a problem. It is mapped to the USB drive connected to my router.
• Sometimes (days) I cannot connect to this mapped drive and it fails to reconnect. At that point I can still connect to this drive from ALL other devices on my Workgroup LAN. None of those devices have the drive mapped!
• For a short time, using "Net Use" shows the drive trying reconnect. Later it says "Disconnected".
• The only way I have found to reconnect to that drive is to perform:
  1. net use U: /delete
  2. net use U: \\HARENET-HD\data
• This problem has started within the last several months. Maybe it's related to a Windows update??

Help would be appreciated!
