Windows 10: Mapped network drive not visible!!

Hi all,

I'm trying to create a home network using my PC and laptop. I am struggling to get my laptop to 'see' my external HDD that is attached to my PC. I have mapped it on the PC, network sharing has been enabled, and I the 'users' are visible but not the drive.

On a separate note, but likely to be related - I can't remotely access my PC via my laptop even though I have given access.

(both PC and laptop are btw, just incase its a question that arises)

Please help!

Mapped netwrok drive not visible in program

I have 2 computers in my office, we recently installed a network storage unit. On the first computer we connected up and it works. On the second computer I mapped the network drive and can see it under this pc. Everything looks proper, but when I open
quickbooks or other programs the location is not there. When I restart the computer it shows the drive disconnected. Sometimes it will still open and sometimes I have to remap. Once remapped i can see it again and look through the files, but my programs still
do not see the drive. I am sure there is a simple security setting somewhere. I have spoken with synology about hte unit and they said since it is working on the 1 pc, it has to be a setting on the second pc causing the problem.
