Is there a way I can map drive D -- not drive X, Y, Z, or J -- to a directory? To avoid a misunderstanding, I am not asking how to map a drive. I know how to do that. I'm asking if there's a way to map a particular drive that is not in the File Manager > Computer > Map network drive list of drives because it's already assigned to another device. Here's the background: on my old computer I stored data on a separate drive drive D because it made backups easier. I recently set up a new computer and shifted to the Microsoft convention of storing data in C:\Users\<account>\Documents bec

Connecting NAS - mapping of drives

    Ok,

If you want, we can do a step by step troubleshooting of your current situation:

If you are able to ping your Machine and it responds.
    Code:
Try to view if your NAS appears on the Network List:
    Code:
If Your NAS appears on the list, try to view it:
    Code:
The available shares will be listed there.

Then Try to List the content of one of the directories:
    Code:
This should list the content of the directory,

If all this works Try to map a drive on one share:
    Code:
Pls reply with the "response" of the first "encounter" of a non positive output.

This exercise should reveal if you have a Network or Protocol or Cipher or Authentication problem.

I need to map a drive to the D: drive on another computer

Still not completely clear, but it doesn't matter to me, I'll hopefully never have to use it.

But I still want to map a drive letter to the D: drive on JIMSPUTER, since the error is not correct, as I understand it, what's next?

    D drive

    Hi,

Based on the details you have provided us, it appears that there might be some corrupted contents on the said partition. We can also consider that this is caused by a virus.

For us to check if a certain virus is hiding your files, kindly follow the steps below:

    • Type Command prompt in the search bar.
    • Type-in the following command:

      attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.*
    • Press Enter to execute the command.

If you think that there is nothing important stored in it, then we suggest that you reformat your D drive so that you can use the free space for important files.

You can follow the steps below to start with the process:

    • Click on the File Explorer.
    • Select This PC.
    • Right-click on your D drive, then click on Format.
    • Follow the on-screen process to finish formatting the partition.

Let us know how it goes so that we can further assist you.
