  1. Massive CPU frequency drop

Hello everyone. I have a strange problem. I have an Acer Aspire A715-75G 8GB, GTX 1650, i5-10300H. Every once in a while, my laptop freezes for about 4 or 5 seconds and then returns to normal. When it freezes, background activity continues, but I can no longer do anything with my computer. I used the Windows Performance Recorder to investigate the problem. When that freezing problem occurs, even though my laptop is plugged in, the Windows starts using the battery I'm not completely sure and the CPU frequency suddenly drops to zero. I want to know if my laptop has a hardware problem or

    INCORRECT CPU FREQUENCY READING

    Hello Muhammad,

CPU usage depends on the applications that are open to your device. To isolate the problem, we suggest that you answer the following questions:

    • Can you include a screenshot of the CPU reading?
    • Have you tried performing a
      clean boot
      to eliminate software conflicts?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

    Looking forward to your response.

CPU 101 -- Frequency Vs. Boost

I'd say forget about base frequency, you could force computer to run much lower anyway. It's just highest frequency CPU would run at if no boost is allowed. If boost is enabled, under appropriate load some cores will boost to higher frequency until certain step and if even more load is applied one core will boost to even higher frequency.

Overclock cpu max frequency constantly changing in task manager

    Hi,

I'm overclocking my Intel 8700k to 5Ghz and every time I check the current frequency in task manager the max is constantly changing. I have high-performance power settings on windows enabled and I have also disabled CPU state and Intel SpeedStep in the BIOS.
I also noticed that when using other tools to display my GPU and CPU performance they show my CPU max frequency is exactly 5Ghz, why does Task Manager constantly display a constantly changing frequency?

    Any suggestions?

    Much appreciated
