  1. Massive GPU usage spikes from "System" in Task Manager

I'm trying to record with OBS using an external capture card connected to my PS4. Usually when OBS is open, GPU usage in task manager is at between 20 and 30%, but every minute or so there is a sudden violent spike to 100% - causing my OBS encoder to overload - and the culprit, according to Task Manager, is "system"My CPU is an Intel Core i7-7700HQ @ 2.80GHz, and my GPU is a GeForce GTX 1050My NVIDIA driver is version 31.0.15.1693 driver date is 21/07/2022 and my Intel driver is version 31.0.101.2111 date is 19/07/2022Thank you in advance for any help

Massive FPS Lag And GPU Spikes

I've recently noticed that when running games like Minecraft and League of Legends, the FPS stutters and drops suddenly. This problem only started a few weeks ago - before that it ran fine. I usually average around 90FPS in Minecraft and 70FPS in League, but during the spikes it drops to 5-10FPS. The spikes used to only occur every few seconds and went away after a while, but now they're frequent and make trying to play near impossible.

I opened up Task Manager when running Minecraft, and the GPU constantly spikes from around 30% to up to 90%, causing the drops. Most of the GPU usage is from Java running, and the spikes are from it as well. Running on Windows 10, I already have Optifine installed on Minecraft. The problem only occurs in fullscreen.

    Things I've already tried:

    • Uninstall and reinstall graphics drivers
    • Cleaned out junk files
    • Uninstall and reinstall games
    • Close background programs, end tasks in Task Manager
    • Ran multiple antivirus scans using AVG, MalwareBytes and Adaware(no problems found)

Task Manager - GPU Temperature Spikes

Hi, every time I log into windows. My GPU all the sudden heats up. Like the highest I seen it reach was 110c which was insane. I literally planned on buying a new gpu cooler due to the excessive temps. However, I noticed that when I open Task Manager, the gpu temp suddenly would drop less and less which is just strange. But then right when I close Task Manager, temp rises again to the fullest. I even restored the bios settings and even Nvidia Control Panel settings to see if anything would help but didn't sadly. I also noticed when I'm in the bios menu, everything is running fine but right when I log in, the gpu goes crazy.. Now I'm just afraid to close TM..

This is right when I open task manager, I would see a ton of "very high" power usage and so..

This is right when I open task manager, and go straight to the gpu tab. You can just see how the "3D" and dedicated memory spikes.. And before I captured the screenshot, it actually was at 81c, and that was just keeping the task manager closed for about 3 minutes.

This is when the task manager was open for about 5ish minutes.

This is when the task manager was open for about 5ish minutes, you can just see how steady it is. I currently have the glass off to monitor the temp, but with the glass on, it can go down to about 20c. So I know for sure its nothing to do with the airflow as that's what I thought but the gpu temp would just spike out of nowhere but then Task manager comes to the rescue and keeps everything in place..

Lag Spikes caused by CPU usage drops and GPU usage spikes after Windows 10 April update

Since the April 10th update for Windows 10, my laptop has been suffering from lag spikes that occur during simple tasks such as browsing the internet.

When looking at the task manager during these spikes, I can see that the CPU usage drops to around 10% while the GPU usage increases to close to 100%. I looked at what programs were using large portions of the GPU which turned out to be the 'Desktop window
manager' and the 'Client server runtime process'.

I've seen that other people have had a similar problem with the recent update, but not much in the way of solutions as of yet. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks,

    Jason
