Windows 10: matshita bd-cmb uj141aj driver failing on windows 10

hello everyone, as by title here i am to ask you for help. i saw other threads about these kind of problems..i have an acer aspire 5951 g laptot from 2012 (specifics on profile of course) and my cd/dvd is failing..it's been recognized by system, the icon on hardware setup is showing and everything seems to be fine..it opens normally, ports are working but it doesnt read anything i put in, even original music cds or dvds..please help thanks

Windows 10 Pro || Blu Ray Drive MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ167AM || Drivers

Hello,

I am looking for drivers for my internal blu-ray drive (MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ167AM). I am using Sony VAIO SVS131290X model.

Since Sony has discontinued VAIO series, they have very limited set of drivers/software listed on their site for Windows 10.

This was working fine on Windows 8.1. With update to Windows 10 Pro, DVD Writer and Blu Ray dics are not working.

Problem: DVD writer is not working and system fails to detect any of blu ray movies disc.

Tried Options

I have searched over internet but could not find relevant driver.

On Microsoft site, I have find couple
this thread and tried below option

1. Device Manager -> DVD/CD ROM Driver -> MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ167AM -> UpdateDriver -> Nothing Happened

2. Registry editing and restart machine

3. Device Manager -> DVD/CD ROM Driver -> MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ167AM -> Remove Driver -> Restart Machine

With Option #2 & #3, windows failed to reboot and I couldn't fix it using any auto recovery tool.

I had to reset Windows installation twice (once for each option #2 & #3).

Another observation with currently installed driver: Under Driver properties(Device Manager -> DVD/CD ROM Driver -> MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ167AM -> Right Click Properties) section, it shows option to select/change DVD Region.

But it does not show anything about Blu Ray Region.

Any help to resolve issue is much appreciated.

Drivers for MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ141AF ATA - this drive only works as a DVD drive since I installed Win 10. I have Nero 15 Bluray software but still won't play Bluray disk.

 

i already tried to uninstall and reinstall ata atapi sata ports and the reader/burner itself, i tried to put hands on regedit and reboot after every change, nothing's happening and i'm going mad.

 

At a guess, the drive has suffered a hardware failure.

 

Lasers in the ODDs frequently die.

 

i'm sad but i accept death *Biggrin i will buy an external one..peace!

 

I missed this, but let me add: on many laptops, replacing the optical drive is easy. If you can do that, you might prefer it to an external drive.
