Windows 10: May 2020 Xbox One Update now available with Simpler Guide and More

Here at Xbox we believe that gaming is for everyone. To serve both new Xbox gamers and longtime fans, our team has been hard at work streamlining and refining the Xbox experience. Driven by feedback from you, our worldwide community, we are excited to share some new updates and improvements that are already rolling out to all Xbox One consoles. The May 2020 Update is available now and delivers a simpler Guide interface, a new Community experience, additional collection filters and a better way to browse Mixer.

Simplified Guide Layout

The Guide is the heart of navigation on Xbox One, letting gamers quickly switch between games and apps or head somewhere else on Home. The Guide is also everything you need to play, in one place, available instantly. Our aspiration is that if youâre in a game, you can send a message, start a party and come back so quickly that no one even knows youâve left.

Weâve been working to streamline the Guide for all gamers and testing new layouts with our Xbox Insiders â their feedback has been invaluable in refining the design. The improvements range from structural changes to subtle visual details around badging and notifications, so that the Guide is understandable at-a-glance. The Guide will feel great both the first time you open it and the thousandth time you use it.

The new Guide is designed to be cleaner and easier to read. Weâve reduced the total number of tabs by combing related experiences and introduced a new default, left-to-right tab order, making it simpler to move around. App and system notifications are now found with the rest of your Alerts, right when you open the guide.

We reorganized the People tab to simplify its layout. âFriend Suggestionsâ are now under âFind someoneâ, making it even easier to find people you may know across Xbox Live. You can now find âDiscover Clubsâ within the Clubs page, allowing users to find more suggestions for some great communities to join.

The new âParties & Chatsâ tab combines Party, messaging and invites into a single location, making it easier to communicate with your friends and fellow gamers.

The new âProfile & Systemâ tab consolidates important utilities like Sign-in, Settings and Help, giving you quick access to them from anywhere. Find it under your GamerPic.

Finally, we know from your feedback that the default tab order isnât right for everybody. For example, some players care more about Achievements than they do about Chats. As part of this update weâre also rolling out the ability to customize the tab order to what works for you. Access it via a âCustomize guide tabsâ option on âProfile & systemâ tab.

Connecting you with the Xbox Community

We want you to feel connected to whatâs happening in your corner of Xbox Live and with the rest of the community! The updated Community page on Xbox One makes it clearer where your content is coming from and how to explore all that Xbox Live has to offer.

This improved layout splits the page into four new channels:

Popular on Xbox Live

Jump into the Community page from your Xbox One home dashboard and find out what is happening in your community and favorite games.

Additional Collection Filters

With the changes made to My games & apps, you have more flexibility to manage your collection the way you want. To continue our efforts to make it easier to sort through and manage your ever-growing library, weâve added Genre and Player Count as additional Filters.

Mixer Stream Browse Improvements

Your enthusiasm for Mixer drives us to improve the Mixer dashboard experience for streamers and viewers alike! In May, users will see a meaningful change on Xbox One that will vastly improve browsing streams.

Live thumbnails previewing a Mixer broadcast makes it so much easier to get a glimpse into the stream before jumping in. With this update, take a scroll through whatâs happening on Mixer and find a new favorite streamer.

The Xbox guide won't open.Why?!

Hi Oliver,

An Xbox Live service interruption is one of the possible reasons why you are getting this error: 0x8027025a when opening the Xbox guide. To help you resolve this concern, we suggest that you follow the solutions below:

Solution 1: Check the Xbox Live service status.

If you see any service alerts, kindly wait until the service is up and running and try again.

Solution 2: Start the app again. To do this, follow the steps below:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then select
Home.

With the focus on the app tile, select the Menu button.

Select Quit.

Solutions 3: Restart your console.

Reset the cache on your Xbox One console by following these steps:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Settings.

Select Restart console.

Select Yes to confirm.

Solution 4: Reset your console to factory defaults. Kindly follow the steps below:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Settings.

Select All Settings.

Select System.

Select Console info & updates.

Select Reset console. On the Reset console screen, select
Reset and keep my games & apps.

Xbox 360 Live Update

A new update for the Xbox 360 has been released over Xbox Live. The update, available upon signing on to the Xbox Live service with a 360, offers a few minor bug fixes, as well as a seal over a minor security hole that would-be system hackers had been experimenting with. Here's the update list:

Improvements to the Xbox Guide.

Option to retain your saved games when you delete a profile.

Increased accuracy of "last time played."

Network configuration improvements for Xbox Live® members in the Netherlands.

More detailed messaging for unreadable disk or region errors.

HOW TO GET IT

If your console is in Instant-On mode, it will download and install the update and reboot to standby.

NOTE: Once the update is available, you can manually begin the update by launching the Guide and navigating to All Settings > System > Console info & updates.

If your console hasn’t downloaded and installed the update by 1:00 AM PDT 8/27/2016, you will be prompted to do so at that time.

NEW FEATURES

Cortana

Cortana is now available in France, Italy, Germany, and Spain.

If you live in these regions and would like to begin using Cortana, just follow the steps below:

Launch the Guide and navigate to All Settings.

Navigate to System > Cortana Settings.

When prompted, select “I agree” to enable Cortana.

You can launch Cortana from My games & apps or snap Cortana from the Guide. To learn a few commands, just say “Hey Cortana, what can I say?” in your language.

If you decide to opt out of Cortana, just repeat the steps above to toggle Cortana On/Off. Opting out of Cortana will re-enable the Xbox legacy voice commands.

Resolved an issue which could cause game trials to be available for less or more than the intended amount of time.
