I am a big fan of Windows 10 Task bar change to all direction. Usually, I work on VMs or Terminal servers. This feature helped me a lot to work on my convenient. After upgrading to Windows 11, it is difficult for me to work due to the lack of this feature. I request Windows team to enable or make this feature happen in Windows 11. I can see there are many tutorials to change the registry and make it work but it will be happy if you implement from Windows side. Please let me know will it be implemented in future in the part of Windows 11 update.

    :)

Windows 11 taskbar icons not working

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate your interest in Windows 11. I understand that Taskbar icons are not working after upgrading to Windows 11. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

    1. What happens when you click on an icon on the Taskbar?
    2. Do you receive any error message/code?
    3. Does this issue occur with all the icons?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to try re-registering the taskbar and see if that works. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below.

    1. Press Windows + X keys together and click on Windows PowerShell (Admin)
    2. Now type in the following command and hit Enter: Get-AppXPackage -User ([System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent().Name) *ShellExperienceHost* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
    3. Restart the PC once the command is complete.

If the issue persists, you can try creating a new user account and then see if you are able to access the icons on the Taskbar.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Nikhar Khare

    Microsoft Office Taskbar Jump Lists

    Hi Ken,

For us to better assist you with the taskbar Jump Lists issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made to the computer prior to this issue (e.g. Windows updates)?
    • Does the issue also occur on other pinned apps/files?

In the meantime, we suggest to turn off/on Jump Lists in Settings. To do so, please follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + i to open Settings, then select
      Personalization.
    • In the left pane, click Start.
    • Turn Off then turn On Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on the Start or the taskbar.

We're looking forward to your reply.

remove empty white space on the bottom left of Windows 11 taskbar

Hi leon26WW, My name is Merlina, I am an Independent Microsoft and a user like yourself.

I understand you have a concern regarding the space on the left side of your Windows 11 taskbar.

I recommend you move the start menu and the icons back to left, to do that please follow bellow steps:

    1. Right-click on the Taskbar and open “Taskbar settings“.

    2. After that, click on “Taskbar behaviors” to expand the menu.

    3. Next, in the “Taskbar alignment” drop-down menu, choose “Left”.

    4. That's it. Now, the Taskbar icons will move to the left on your Windows 11 PC.

I hope this helps! Thank you.
