Windows 10: MB direct replacement same model compatibility problems

Hi I have an old PC with win vista 32 basic. The MB went faulty but due to having lots of external hardware tied to this OS in music projects which are half completed I cannot upgrade the OS and system. I really need to get this functioning again. The MB is ASUS P5n32 e sli , 4mb RAM. Q9300 Quad processor. I have replaced the MB with an identical model replacement. I now get a message on start up that windows is not genuine , the quad processor is showing and performing as a single core processor. I have made sure in MSCONFIG that it is not selected to a single core processor something el

I am pulling my hair out trying to get the sytem functioning and I have a backup I could work from with Macrium on DVD ROM. However now both of my CD/DVD Drives are not working with the system , they look to be recognised in BIOS but they will not read any disc at all nor will it recognise it and give the option to boot from CD ROM (which is exactly what I need it to do to run windows recovery /macrium restorer etc)



Any help or guidance to rectify to a working state is very very much appreciated! I know the easy answer is to just do away with the old vista basic system but at the current time I would then be unable to finish countless projects!

You changed the Motherboard and even though it is the same the actual Motherboard is recognised as different.

And the Vista Windows Update Servers are shut down by Microsoft.

So, no Windows Updates.

Microsoft never looks at these Vista forums anymore.

ASUS Motherboard compatibility


My Asus MB (M4A89GTD PRO/USB3) is about 5 years old. I have successfully upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 10. However, running on Win 10 my PC frequently locks up and has to be re-booted. As a result I down-graded to Win 7 and now all is ok. ASUS does not include this board in the list of Win 10 compatible boards but they state that it might achieve compatibility in the future.
I would like to avoid purchasing a new board and removing/replacing my existing board. If there is no way to make my existing board work with Win 10 could you suggest a good replacement AMD board - I am not a gamer.
Any one got a good suggestion.
