    McAfee just detected a virus in the item wmiprvse.exe.


    McAfee just detected a virus in the item wmiprvse.exe. The Threat is JTi/Suspect.196612!c0ebeac9651 and the path is C:\ProgramData\regid.1993-06.com.microsoft. My antivurs have already kelp it in quarantine. Please enlighten me what to do

    Hi, if you get an indication that your AV has detected a virus, you should take that seriously. Don't simply uninstall the AV or disable it.

    You say
    - do you mean it's disabled? (Many functions will be if you have a 3rd party AV installed).

    - did nothing happen at all, or did it start to uninstall, or what?

    Are you even sure you have McAfee AV installed- or do you have one of their other products - see those listed here:
    McAfee Removal Tool - McAfee Uninstaller

    If McAfee is damaged in some manner you could try to uninstall it. Here are two ways:
    McAfee Consumer Support- Official Site

    Methods 1 & 2.
    Method 2 uses a separate tool you download. Most AV's have such a tool.

    If you do that you should find Defender is fully enabled again, and you should ensure it's up to data and run a full scan.

    Does anyone know if Windows Mobile supports this anymore? I got two issues here.

    1) I'm having a real headache trying to get this problem taken care of. I've tried to update the programs virus listing. But I've been getting this error everytime: "A problem has occured with VSMserver.exe." Then it ask me to send in the report (yea sureee).
    I've called AT&T, who passed me to motorola, who suggested I talk to McAfee themselves (since it's "their" program). I got close to getting help from McAfee but they kept asking for some key code or something.

    2)Is has a REAL annoying habit of asking to scan and update when ever it pleases. I could be in the middle of a text and "bling" one of the two will come up. How can I changed this?

    So after all that, should I ditch McAfee off the mobi and find another mobile virus scanner??
