    McAfee LifeSafe vs Microsoft Defender


    My new computer came with McAfee LiveSafe installed. I have Windows 11. McAfee is due to expire and would like to know if Windows Defender will do the same thing? Is there a cost to Windows Defender or is it part of the operating system? Does Defender work with other web browsers such as Chrome?Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Did you ask McAfee support (http://service.mcafee.com/) and/or in their forum (McAfee Enterprise Support Community Forums)?

    In case Windows Defender is still not disabled after doing the above steps, either

    disable Windows Defender manually (see the Answer-marked post of GreginMich in

    this     thread)

    or

    use a REG file (see Option 2 here: Windows Defender - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 )

    Windows Defender and McAfee Live Safe.

    Should Defender and McAfee be used together? McAfee suggests conflicts may occur. MS seems to say Defender can add protection along with other AV software.
