Windows 10: McAfee Security Centre PopUps

I uninstalled McAfee but I still get Pop Ups ALL THE TIME!!

When I go to settings to view firewall settings, it is still there BUT the programme and app are no longer on the computer. How do I stop the pop-ups if I cannot access the programme? Please don't tell me I have to reinstall it.

Windows Defender Vs. McAfee Security Centre

I have a six year old Dell Studio Windows 7 Home Premium Desktop that came preinstalled with McAfee Security Centre from new.

Those who use McAfee will know that its a paid subscription, and usually works out between £30 - £70 per year depending on what deals they're doing.

However, I've recently done the free upgrade to Windows 10 and noticed that Windows Defender is available as what looks like a "free antivirus protection programme".

My current McAfee subscription is due to expire next year - and my question is.....

Is Windows Defender an acceptable substitute to McAfee Security Centre?? Or is it advisable to continue with McAfee??

My only concern is that being as its free, Windows Defender may be very basic and simply not be as comprehensive as a paid subscription.

Any help would be appreciated.
