Media Creation Tool fails. Any work around?

My laptop was upgraded to Windows 10 two days ago but my desktop has not received the green light yet. I was reading that if you downloaded the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's web site that it had an option that would allow up to upgrade your PC or create an ISO install disk. I downloaded the app on my laptop and created an ISO disk as a backup in case I need to do a clean install on that platform but when I tried to run the app on my desktop it brings up the UAC prompt asking if I want to run this program and when I click Yes, nothing happens.

I read some thread somewhere that if you're having problems with this app you need to do a selective startup where you don't run any startups and you disable all of the services and after restarting, I tried this and after restarting my PC running the Media Creation app again failed to do anything .

If I run Windows Update it says I have no updates pending but it was interesting that every time I've run the Media Creation Tool it puts an entry in my update log that says the update failed. The fact is the upgrade has not failed in the normal sense only the Media Creation Tool failed.

Has anyone seen this and if so has anyone been able to determine what is wrong and how to fix it? My concern is that I have a reservation for the upgrade but that too might fail so I'd like to get my desktop upgraded to Windows 10 asap. Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

    2017-06 cumulative update for windows 10 version 1607 for x64-based systems (kb4022715)

No I have not used the Media Creation Tool. This is the first time I ever heard of using it to download an upgrade that continually fails to install. I'm wondering why using the Media Creation Tool would stop the upgrade download not to fail? Any ideas?

Media Creation Tool fails. Any work around?

My problem was corruption on my system but not corrupted system files. I had a Microsoft 2nd level support Tech work on my PC for 2 solid days before he fixed it. Interestingly enough he downloaded a tool called Tweaking.com Windows Repair and ran it on my system. Once the utility finished I was able to install Windows 10 Pro from a Windows 10 Pro installation disk created from the ISO file that I downloaded on my laptop. Hope this post helps someone having issues.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10. You pick your flavor (32 bit or 64 bit) and then you make some additional selections as to whether you have home or pro and whether you want to burn it on a DVD or put it on a memory stick. If you put it on a memory stick be aware that anything on the stick will be destroyed. It said that you needed about 3 GB of free space on the stick but did not tell you everything was going to be erased. I lost a ton of data I had on the stick and it kills me that I had an empty one that I could have used instead. I also burned a copy to a DVD for each of my two PC's (one Home and one Pro). If you burn a CD there was a recommendation that you burn your copy from a Windows 10 machine and choose the Microsoft utility to bun the DVD not a 3rd party utility. Hope this helps.
