I just noticed today that this page:

Has gone back to the tool that gets build 10240:

Windows Update: "Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586" Failed to install on 11/12/2015.

I tried updating my media creation tool and it's still build 10240 dude. They haven't upgraded the media creation tool yet.

  3. Windows 10 version 1511 build 10586 not shown in my update

I used the media creation tool and it took 2 hours to "upgrade" my computer back to the original Build 10240 Media Creation Tool goes back to build 10240! :(

EDIT: Never mind, the media creation tool on the microsoft website is an old ver, unlike the one in your post. Sigh.

I noticed this too. There was a question posted around 8:30-9:00 about whether MCT gave latest build, was about to answer yes, thought I'd confirm and I saw that qualifying sentence.

    Anybody speculate why this happened?

BTW I noticed last night that the update is no longer offered on my laptop, even when hitting the check for updates I'm told there are no updates for this PC.

That said, I was having all sorts of problems in trying to get the update to install on my laptop, even in trying both the ISO and MCT tool created disk. In fact I was going to do a clean install today on the laptop. I think I'll have to hold off now as it seems to me Microsoft has actually pulled the update.

In the meantime I'm running the update just fine on my desktop.

I was referring to actually already having the .exe

The LINKs now downloads EXE version 10240 -

But people can confirm by checking the files version properties of the EXE..

Here's a screenshot showing what is on the USB Thumb drive created by MCT when I selected USB and Both from the choices list:
    Attachment 49736
It also shows the version of the update. I used the Media Creation Tool I downloaded on 11/13/2015, have seen the posts it has reverted back to 10240. I also have the the updates for 10586.11 on it.
