That really doesn't mean anything. The install.esd that you have will also have Windows 10 Home in the second index:

dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:"\\SERVER1\Windows 10_586\x64\sources\install.esd" /index:2

Windows 10 > multi edition Home and Pro. I see they updated it and added the Single language Edition, that wasn't there last time I ran it.

Thanks, alphanumeric. My wife's laptop was 8.1 Pro upgraded to 10 Pro and then clean installed 10 Pro on it from ISO - now at activated 10240. I think I'm set for her with the ISO burned this morning - if I opt to upgrade (or clean install) to 10586 on hers.

 

No 10 Home Single Language option for me? Just 10 and 10 N. I don't need that ISO, not yet anyway. It's one I can't get on MSDN though.

 

OK, I changed the language to English UK and got the Home SL option. Selected that and changed it back to English US and it stayed SL. It then let me download an ISO. Not sure what I'm getting though? Will have to wait till it's done to figure that out.

 

I just tried this link and I get 10 which has both home and pro,10 Home Single Language and N 32 & 64 bit versions with all the languages but you need to remove the check mark on Use the recommended options for this PC... The UK selection is different than the USA English

 

Since we're talking about upgrades, have a question... I still have 2 Microsoft Surface Pro 2's with 512GB SSD that I believe comes loaded with Windows 8 Pro that is still in their sealed boxes. If you were going to sell these, would you upgrade to Windows 10 first before selling? The only issue is wouldn't the resale value go down and be considered used instead of new once the seal of the box is broken?

 

I would leave them as is and suggest one can upgrade if one choose to

 

Why not just offer who ever you sell them to, if they wish you to install Windows 10 to current version, if they might have problems doing it themselves?

Good point there Cliff. They buy it first and pay and then I'll upgrade it if they want.

 

The requirements for the Free Win10 are either Win7 w/SP1 or Win8.1. My opinion is to convince the buyer/s to let you upgrade/update from the stated Win8 to Win8.1 [Free from the Store] then decide on Win10.
