  1. Media Creation Tool, no "Select language, architecture & edition" page

When selecting "Upgrade This PC", is there a way to get the "Select language, architecture & edition" screen to show up?

I went through this process on the computer before, but I selected the wrong edition. The process eventually just stopped (closed the window). When I try to run the tool again, it just goes straight to the "downloading..." part of the process. Thanks for any help.

    :)

  2. Install The November update of windows 10 pro

You don't get smoother than a clean fresh install.

Version 1151 is the latest version tho personally I don't see it being the last but we will have version 1151 for a while anyway.

And yes Upgrade This PC now is what you choose in media creation tool.

if you are on a metered connection I suggest you ask a friend who does not have a metered connection

and use the media creation tool to create a install media flash drive single language single architecture as this helps keeps the download to a small size.

This way you should only need a 8gig flash drive as when you choose edition in the Windows Creation Tool choosing Windows 10 gives you both Pro & Home editions. (you are given the option to choose on a fresh install)

  3. Switching from 32bit Win10 to 64bit Win10 - pre clean install questions

    Hello Tom,

Great. You can go through this
    link to
download the Media Creation Tool for creating an ISO image for Windows 10
64bitversion. Run the tool after you download and select
Create installation media for another PC.

Under Select language, architecture and edition
page, uncheck Use the recommended options for this PC.
Now it allows you to select the 64 bit, and continue with the creation. continue with

Keep us posted if you require further assistance.

I haven't used the tool to directly upgrade a PC. I'm a little surprised that it didn't automatically match the OS you were running the tool from, the first time.

If you choose to download an ISO or create installation media for a different PC, then you will be able to choose language, bitness, and edition.

When you select the "Upgrade this PC now option" you will not get the choice for language, architecture, or version because it is going to do what you tell it to - "Upgrade this PC now" - that means keep the same language, architecture and version that you had before, just upgrade it to Windows 10.

When you select "Create installation media for another PC", the MCT will ask you for language, architecture and version because it has know way of knowing what the other PC has on it - or even if it will be an upgrade or not.

  7. Thanks, it's very possible I lost sight of that. "Upgrades now..." would just close itself during/after downloading, with no clue what to do next.

Putting the installation media on a USB storage w/the help of Rufus got me where I wanted.

    Thanks for the replies.

I did the Media Creation Tool for a 64-bit computer, not mine as I did it from Win7, and am burning the DVD from the .iso file now. I went back to get the 32-bit version by running the 32-bit tool and was prevented. According to the message I got it appears one has to be booted to the same version [32-bit or 64-bit] as they want to download. Right now I don't have a 32-bit version of Win10 installed on anything.

  9. Not true. The first 32 bit 64 bit choice is based on what OS your running the MCT on. If the current OS is 32 bit you select the 32 bit setup.exe. If it's 64 bit you select the 64 bit option. After that you can download a 32 bit or 64 bit ISO. It's an option in the drop down list.

There was no such choice when I ran the 64-bit version of Media Creation Tool. The 32-bit MCTl gave the message about not working on a 64-bit computer. The only choice I had when downloading the MCT was in which version I wanted to download so I got both.

  12. Not anymore, it's not. I used the Media Creation Tool from my 64-bit Win 8.1 desktop to download a 32-bit version of Win10 Home a few weeks ago. Then last week, I tried to use it again to get a new ISO -- and it would not let me. Would only let me download 64-bit versions. They've changed the tool.

I just ran it, and as the screen shot shows, 32 bit x86 is an option?

I should have mentioned that due to a slight difference in size I used the latest [today's] download of the MCT instead of the one I had downloaded a month ago. All this was done using links from pages on this site.

    I should have included this:
    Windows 10
    Attachment 37743

  15. Download Tool Now (64 bit version) is the one I ran to get the screen shot I posted earlier. I ran it right before I posted that screen shot. Windows 10 Education 64 bit.
