  2. Have a look in your downloads folder, if there is a MediaCreationToolx64.exe there, delete it and then run the MCT.

OK, seriously...I think some people need to get rid of their fake Media Creation Tools that are limiting what they can download and giving them ISOs with different sizes. I just installed Windows 7 from scratch two days ago, finished getting all the updates for it yesterday. The only outside program I have installed is Firefox. So, I have no internet cache yet. I just went to the Microsoft Windows 10 Media Creation Tool Website:
    Windows 10

And guess what? From both Internet Explorer and Firefox, running on Windows 7 Pro 64bit, I get all the options...all the versions are there and 32bit, 64bit, and both flavors are available. Windows 10 Home also has 32/64/both available as well. The ISOs I downloaded in the last couple of days have exactly the same byte counts as the ISOs I downloaded 5 weeks ago. I can see absolutely no difference in the MCT I ran 5 weeks ago and the one I just downloaded and ran today, including in the files that it retrieves.

The Media Creation Tool likely won't be updated until a big update for Windows 10 gets released. If it follows along like the Windows 8.1 one. The Windows 8.1 one now downloads Windows 8.1 with the Nov Update. There was a rumored update 1 for Windows 10 but I don't think it ever materialized.

Well, despite I can't see any difference as noted in my post #16, the MCT program itself has been changed, but I can't see any difference in functionality running it or what it downloads from Windows 7 or Windows 10. I don't have a Windows 8 installation to run it from.

  6. I could have worded my post better, but what I meant by updating, was updating the ISO's you get. Not the tool itself specifically. I see what you ,meant though. The tool itself was changed updated at some point. I only use it occasionally, just for testing how it works. I have an MSDN subscription and usually get my ISO's there. I haven't noticed any difference in the way it works now versus the first time I tried it. The option I used the most was the "Upgrade This PC Now" option. It's how I did all my upgrades here at home. I'm on FiberOp so download speeds and data caps aren't an issue.

  7. OK, folks -- and LCDR -- I stand corrected! I downloaded the Media Creation Tool (again) and this time, it lets me download either 32-bit or 64-bit ISOs -- just like before. I checked the version of this latest tool and it is 16480 -- same as the second on in post #18.
