Windows 10: Media Creation tool only detects Drive 0 with no space when trying to install W10, how can...

Nephew gave me an old laptop to fix. On startup it won't load windows and goes into repair mode and hangs. Have d/led media creation tool and can boot from external DVD drive. Selecting Install from the menu after specifying Language, keyboard and 64 bit , and going for the advanced install option. The only drive detected is Drive 0 which windows 10 won't install on as no space. Is there any way round this? Refresh only gives Drive 0, New also won't let me create a drive.Trying the repair options uninstalling updates runs into an error and doesn't work, using the repair option also generates

Windows Media Creation Tool - More Space?

I am attempting to use the Windows Media Creation Tool to build an ISO image. I am using an HP 850G6 laptop with over 275GB free space and I have also provided a freshly formatted 128GB USB thumb drive for optional ISO storage. During verification, the tool states "We need more space." Remove files you no longer need or use disk cleanup to free up space then try again. Since there is 275GB of free space I am not sure why this is failing. I also selected the USB drive and received the same message. The creation tool WILL succeed when creating bootable installation media but always returns the free space message when attempting to create an ISO. Unfortunately I need an ISO to build an image for deployment as the software I'm using requires one. Any suggestions as to what is causing the free space message and how to correct it?

 

W10 Media Creation Tool

I already did...twice. It will not run once downloaded, not even to tell me I've got the wrong version or something. It continually tells me "Error - Restart your computer and try running again." Again, I have followed the listed instructions, disabled my
firewall, and run as Admin. If there is a link to simply downloading the ISO to disc, sans-"Media Creation Tool," please provide.

 

Using unallocated space on W10 media creation flash drive

I have temporarily made my 128GB flash drive into a media creation tool to address some boot issues I was having. I know I will be needing a media creation USB in the future, so I wanted to keep that on the drive, but I wanted to use the unallocated space
left on the drive.

According to Disk Management, there is the 32GB FAT32 partition for the media creation, and 83.21GB left unallocated, but I cannot create a new volume with the unallocated space. Is there any way to use the unallocated space on this drive, or should I grab
a smaller USB for the media creation tool?
