Windows 10: Media Creation Tool upgrade stuck in the "Getting Updates" screen for 2 days+

Hello, i've been thinking of Reinstalling my PC with the Media Creation Tool. The reason why im using it is because it lets me choose what to keep Keep personal files and apps. The only problem is that the process is stuck in the "Getting Updates" screen and its been 2 days. I decided to stop the process and start from the beginning. and the result is the same. i left it overnight and its always stuck in the "Getting Updates" screen. what might be the way to solve this problem? ps. the reason why im Reinstalling my pc, is because it has been acting real weird. All kind of browsers crashes is

Windows 10 upgrade gets stuck @ 0% while loading Media Creation Tool

There are actually two options in Media creation Tool:

• Upgrade this PC now:Automatic Download, Installation.You do not need to do anything.You aretrying this option.
• Create Installation media for PCownload an Installation file.When downloaded and opened, you will find a setup.exe to start the Inplace upgrade.Make sure you download the Installation media according to your system.

Use method 2 from here and follow as said.

Use the recommended options for this PC should be checked as you are using the ISO to upgrade the current system.Skip step 6.

Then after download completes, you need to run the setup to upgrade your system.This is the guide:

Upgrade to Windows 10

Method 7/Step 7 should be followed.

Uncheck get the latest updates for Installation(select not right now) at the first screen, which would skip this step.

trying to upgrade from win 7 to win 10 but gets stuck at checking for updates 0 %. loaded the media creation tool and update started from there. this is the 3rd attempt at this upgrade. any help out there?

 

Media Creation Tool question

Hi, I have never had any problems using the Media Creation Tool to perform a Windows 10 clean installation until yesterday so I have a couple of questions.
1. The tutorial here says after going to the Microsoft site and selecting the Download Tool (Media Creation Tool) option that the Media Creation Tool should be save to the PC and run from there.
On Microsoft site the instructions are to Download the Tool and select Run (no saving to the PC). Is there a reason for saving it to the PC first as suggested on Tenforums?

2. Yesterday I used the Media Creation Tool to do a clean install. Everything went fine with the download. After the two hour download the Media Creation Tool automatically started to create the media. Everything working normally so far..then suddenly at 50% a screen popped up with an unexpected error message Error code beginning 0x80004005. That was it I had to stop there.
After searching the net it seems that other people have had the same issue after the Fall Creators Update...with the installation stopping at 50%. I have no idea how to sort this out. After contacting Microsoft Chat Support they didn't offer any suggestions that worked either.
