    Media Disconnected Error- IP Renewal


    My laptop wasn’t able to connect to the wifi of the hostel that I will be living at for the next few months, I read through some troubleshooting sites and it looked like resetting my IP was the best way to go. However, once I released my IP i haven’t been able to create a new one, and I’m still not able to use the internet. I attempted the WINSOCK command prompt steps but that didn’t help. I’m running on Windows 10 on a Asus Laptop. (I don’t know much about computers but I hope this was clear!)

    Trying to renew IP but get media disconnected error


    Every time I do ipconfig release/renew command I keep getting:
    No operation can be performed on Ethernet while it has its media disconnected.No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection* 2 while it has its media disconnected.

    Those commands when trying to renew IP Address. How can I fix?

    "media disconnected" error message on Windows 10.

    Hi,

    I tried all the steps. When i was doing this

    • Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
    • Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter.
    • Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
    • Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
    • Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
    In the third step, ipconfig/ rease no operations can be performed as media is disconnected. This error comes for Bluetooth, wlan and wifi all.

    I tried troubleshooting network adapter also but in vain.

    Please let me know the next steps.
