  1. Media Player new version 11.2410.8.0 has stopped working properly: specified procedure...

Recently, I started experiencing some odd errors using the new Media Player app. When I try to click on an associated file I receive the following error message: "The specified procedure could not be found" Weirdly the same file will play normally if I open the file from within Media Player. And in addition, if I copy and paste a given file to the desktop, I can double click it, and it will play normally. But if I try to play a file in any of my personal folders: Videos, Pictures, etc.... I get the error message. Does anyone have an idea about what's going on? How do I fix

    :)

  2. WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER not working properly

    Hi Thomas,

My name is Douglas and I am an Independent Advisor. I would like to help you. Let's try the followings suggestions, please:

"How to have WMP to re-index your music:

    1. Close Microsoft Media Player.

    2. Click Start and then Run

    3. Type the following into the box:

    • %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player

      4. Click OK and a folder showing you your library files will appear

      5. Erase all the files that end with .wmdb

      6. Open Microsoft Media Player

      7. Push F3

      8. Select the locations for your music files

      9. WMP will reindex your music.

If that doesn't help, then try the following FixIt in the KB article below:

KB Article ID: 947541 - Windows Media Player stops responding after you install a third-party product that registers its own version of the Wmp.dll file

Please reply back and let us know if this helps"

For us to isolate the issue further, we’d like to know the following:

    • What is the version of your Windows Media Player?
