  1. Media Player started having choppy/stuttering playback. Version 11.2304.2.0

Hi MSFT Community,Hope you're all doing well.I was wondering if any of you have experienced this issue: My Media Player Version 11.2304.2.0 started to have choppy playback and is no longer playing any video smooth.I can't see any update or codec information on the player itself to be able to troubleshoot the framerate drops or codecs being used.Any help/advice here would be appreciated - thanks so much!

    :)

    Accelerated Media Playback

I have ~2TB of Fraps vids to go through and want to adjust playback speed to go through them as quickly as possible while keeping playback smooth. Here's what I'm using:

    CPU: 1090T @ 3.9GHz
    GPUs: 3x 5870 in Crossfire
Media Player: VLC Media Player 1.1.4
    OS: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
    RAM: 8GB DDR2 @ ~1000MHz, CL5
OS on SSD, Fraps vids on 2x 1TB 7200rpm Seagate in RAID 0

These are mostly CoD4 vids that I'm going to be using in a compilation. I wish to go through them quickly so I can delete what I don't want to keep, then work with the rest. They are 85fps, 640x512 resolution, and 3.9GB each, with an average data rate of ~12.5MB/s. The RAID 0 array holding the vids performs at an average ~210MB/s read speed (140-250MBps range) according to HDTune.

Using VLC Media Player, I can play the vids back at about 1.77x speed on average (varies from file to file) before playback starts getting choppy. Windows Task Manager shows that the CPU and RAM are far from being fully utilized. What's the bottleneck? Hardware or software? Windows Media Player won't let me adjust the playback speed and I'm not sure what else I should try on the software side.

Interestingly, I tried copying a couple of the videos to my i5 750 @ 4.2GHz system, which has a much faster RAID array and RAM (8GB DDR3 @ ~2000MHz), and they become choppy at a lower playback speed. Overall I have to guess that VLC is limiting things but this is new territory for me, so advice would be appreciated.

Windows media player has choppy video in beginning with Win 10 upgrade

When I click on a video my media player opens up and the first few seconds are choppy then it stabilizes. Some videos will freeze with rainbow lines and a negative color and the audio will continue but stutter and hang up, repeating the last second or
2 of the audio but no video progression.

Media Player started having choppy/stuttering playback. Version 11.2304.2.0

Windows Media Player 11 in June

Although we have to wait for the new Microsoft Vista OS, new version of Windows Media Player 11 will be available before the end of June. The XP version won't have all the features of its Vista successor, but the company won't say which features will be excluded. I guess we have to wait for a public test version and see what's included. With the new media player, consumers will be able to "reverse sync," meaning they can send content from a digital device to a PC. Another change is the ability to alter protected music and video files to change their quality level. With the new software, protected Windows Media files can be converted to smaller file sizes for playback on mobile devices. The biggest no go is that Windows Media Player 11 won't allow conversion of purchased Windows Media Songs into Apple iPods. So songs bought from a Windows Media store still won't play on the iPod.
