  1. Media Streaming - enable/disable from batch file

HiIs there any way to start/stop the Media Streaming from a batch file? I been encountering that, sometimes, after a reboot or when the pc wakes up, I need to start it from scrat or even restart it Media Streaming because my TV wont pick it up. I been going all the way from Control Panel all the way into the settings to do this manually, today I found out how to create a shortcut to it in a post here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/media-streaming-turns-off-during-reboot/004ed80d-43ea-4313-9d42-b0b5d00658c5, but I was wondering if this can be made even easier.Thank

    :)

    streaming media

It could be that the Flash Player in Edge was disabled after the update. We suggest that you enable it again and see if you are able to stream your media again. Here's how to enable the Flash Player in Edge:

    • Open Edge.
    • Click the "..." on the top-right corner of Edge.
    • Select Settings.
    • Click View advanced settings.
    • Toggle the switch for Adobe Flash Player to enable it.
    • Close the Edge browser window and open a new one.

  3. I am unable to enable media streaming?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I regret the inconvenience caused to you. Let me help you resolve the issue.

As per the description, you are facing issue with streaming through Windows Media Player. In order to provide you with a quick resolution, please reply to these question:

    • Do you receive any error message or error code?

    • Do you have any third party Antivirus software installed in your computer?

    • Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?

I’m glad to provide you with these methods which will help you to fix the issue.

    Method 1:
Run the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

    • Press “Windows key + C” on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

    • Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under
      Settings.

    • Now select Programs in the search option.

    • Under Media Player, select Windows Media Player Settings to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Disable third-party Security Software

    • On your Computer screen Task Bar next to System Clock..

    • You will see the third-party Security Software Icon.

    • Click on the third-party Security Software Icon, you will see a pop up.

    • In that pop and select the option to disable, click on it.

Now the third-party Security Software will be disabled.

Important Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you
have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: If that doesn’t work, I would suggest you to uninstall then re-install Windows Media Player and then check if this fixes the issue.

Step 1: Follow these steps to uninstall Windows Media Player:

    • Press “Windows key + W”.

    • Type “Turn Windows Features on or off” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.

    • Expand “Media Features” option.

    • Un-check “Media Player”.

    • Restart the computer.

Step 2: Follow these steps to re-install Windows Media Player:

    • Press “Windows key + W”.

    • Type “Turn Windows Features on or off” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.

    • Expand “Media Features” option.

    • Make a check mark next to “Media Player”.

    • Restart the computer.

I hope the information helps. If not, please reply back with the updated status and details. We will be happy to assist you accordingly.

Media Streaming - enable/disable from batch file

    Batch Files Knowledge Base

Don't use batch files very much but one I find useful is for creating a list of files in a directory.
Just copy the text below into Notepad and save as Filelist.bat

    dir /a /-p /o:gen >filelist.txt

When you run it from a folder it will create a Filelist.txt file,in the same folder, that lists all the files in that folder.Useful when you are too lazy to type all the files out yourself.
