Media Streaming keeps defaulting to Local

Every few months Windows 11 stops recognising my 2 PCs on the network. This time I'm trying to reactivate Media Streaming from Local to All Networks. But immediately I do this it defaults back to Local.Have been through various options including adjustments in services.msc but still the problem persists. The only solution I can see, to avoid going into the Regedit which I don't feel comfortable about , is a clean install of Windows 11 as it will be quicker and solve this glitch in Windows 11.However, I seem to be doing this regularly every 18 months or so to clear these bugs and errors. So is

    Media Streaming on by default.

    Hi,

    R. Cord here, New Independent Expert. Hope you are doing well.

you can configure Windows 11 to turn on media streaming by default by following these steps:

Click on the Start menu and select Settings.

Click on "Apps" and then on "Apps & features."

Scroll down to "Media Features" and click on "Optional features."

Click on "Add a feature" and select "Windows Media Player" if it's not already installed. If it's already installed, skip to step 5.

Click on "Windows Media Player" and then on "Modify."

Under "Windows Media Player Options," select "Media streaming" and make sure the "Turn on media streaming" option is enabled.

Click on "OK" to save the changes.

With these settings, media streaming should be turned on by default when you boot Windows 11.

Media Streaming DLNA no longer works after Anniversary edition upgrade

    Hello,

Most of the DLNA servers can be fixed by reconfiguring it on your computer. So, I would suggest you to remove the DLNA servers from your computer and reconfigure it again to check if it resolves the issue.

If issue still persists, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check, if it helps:

    • Go to system tray and click on network and sharing
    • Select change advanced sharing settings at the left top of the screen
    • At the bottom select All network
    • Under media streaming, select choose media streaming option
    • Under show devices on select customize from Xbox
    • Uncheck the Use default settings and check mark make all of the media in my library available to this device

Post back if the issue persist. We’ll be glad to assist you further.

    Thank you.
