Windows 10: Memory availability in Windows 11

Hello, everyone. This morning, I succesfully performed a clean installation of Windows 11 on my supported HP Laptop 15s-eq1001nv, which features an AMD Athlon Gold 3150U processor and 8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM memory. The operating system is gorgeous and snappy, but I noticed something strange - only 5.9 GB out of 8 GB RAM are available for the system. Why can't I use the remaining 2.1 GB of RAM? Is it related to my hardware or Windows 11? Thanks in advance.

To help you out with your concern, we suggest that you disable the add-ons in Internet Explorer 11. For step by step instructions, go to this

link, then look for the title Turning off and removing add-ons.

We also suggest that you reset Internet Explorer 11 through these steps:

• Go to Internet Explorer then click the Gear icon.
• Choose Internet options > Advanced.
• Click Reset.

(Note: If you have added Favorites, back up them first before resetting the browser. )

System Reserved Memory issue

Hi Rowan,

The reduction in available system memory depends on the configuration of the following:

• The devices that are installed in the computer and the memory that is reserved by those devices
• The ability of the motherboard to handle memory
• The system BIOS version and settings
• The version of Windows 10 that is installed
• Other system settings

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest that you check your system for memory problems.

Here's how:

• Type mdsched.exe in the search bar and select the best match.
• When prompted by the User Account Control, enter an admin user name and password, and click
  Yes.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run it.
