Windows 10: Memory Diagnostic Report

I am testing a Windows 10 laptop for memory problems. I ran the standard diagnostic process which restarts the machine. Unfortunately, the diagnostic report is not shown. Apparently this is by design. According to responses to this site, rather than present a message, it becomes necessary to open the event viewer. So the machine failed multiple times to open the event viewer, because drumroll it has some sort of memory problem. While I appreciate the ironic humour in designing a memory diagnostic tool that's dependent on the memory it's trying to analyse, the actual results of the memory dia

I have run the Windows Memory Diagnostic and the report indicated that no memory problems were detected. Status remains the same - 2GB of RAM instead of 6GB.

I do not have any obvious performance issues on this system. I have another Windows 10 installation on a secondary laptop and the system specs are reported accurately on that installation.

 

Memory diagnostic test results not found

This is very unusual that you are unable to find the results for Memory Diagnostic test.



Usually, when the memory diagnostic is complete the results will be stored under Event Viewer. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below to access Event Viewer logs for Memory Diagnostic.

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
   Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
   
2. In Run dialog box, type eventvwr and hit enter.
   
3. Now expand Windows Logs and click on
   System.
   

You can use the filter or the find option in Event Viewer to check for specific logs. You can try the steps mentioned below to filter memory diagnostic results in Event Viewer.

1. Right click on System and click on
   Find.
   
2. Now type Memory Diagnostic results and click on
   Find Next
   

This should pull up the results for Memory Diagnostic that you have ran.

I suggest you to run the Windows Memory Diagnostic by following the steps below:

• Click on Start.
• Type Windows Memory Diagnostic and press Enter.
• Click on Restart now and check for problems.

After the Diagnostic is complete, check for status.
