  1. Memory Leaking in Win10 - Tried everything, still have issues.

    Specsheet:

    Lenovo thinkpad E580

Processor: i5-7200U 2.5 / 2.7 GHz (it shows two different specs, dunno why)

Installed RAM: 4GB, unknown speed, unknown make, 3.9GB usable

    System type x64 processor, 64-bit

    GPU: Intel HDGraphics 620 1.9Gb installed/usable

    Settings: optimized for performance.

I was wondering why my system and apps was having performance and stability issues (respectively) and discovered that several system programs were leaving memory that had been written to but was no longer in use, and should have been cleared. I've tried everything, RAMMAP clearing the unused, modified memory, going into regedit to set the ClearPageFileAtShutdown option to true, doing task scheduling to have RAMMAP clear the low-priority modified memory values every two hours, nothing has fixed the issues. I've forced hardware acceleration on every app I can, tried to find workarounds for those I can't, but everything only seems to mitigate the performance problems by so much, and even then it creeps back up into problem territory if I use my computer for more than an hour and a half, regardless of what I try.

Currently the only thing that keeps apps like autodesk sketchup and solidworks (which I need for school) stable enough to use is a LOT of Readyboost (9.8 GB out of a partitioned 32GB Flashdrive) , but even then, performance is mediocre at best. I plan on getting a pair of 8 GB ram sticks to (hopefully) improve the situation, but in the interim, is there anything I can do to improve performance, maybe something in regedit to make the system repurpose modified RAM more frequently, or something to force GPU acceleration on all apps?

At this point, any performance improvements would be a blessing.

    :)

    Memory leak issue

The term "memory leak" means that an application fails to return all its RAM to the operating system when it exits. The leftover RAM is unusable to the operating system.

Step one is to identify the application that is leaking memory. Step two is to contact the application's developers and provide as much detailed data on the memory leak as you can. For example: which processes are still in RAM after the application exits
and how much RAM they occupy. Application developers never want their applications to leak memory and they will be grateful for the details you provide, particularly if they can replicate the leak on their own computers.

Possible Memory Leaks in Windows 10

A memory leak occurs when an application closes and fails to release all its RAM back to the operating system.

The first step in dealing with a memory leak is to determine which application is leaking memory.

The next step is to contact that application's technical support with complete details of the memory leak, since the developers will want to fix the problem ASAP.
