Memory related BSOD's but not actual RAM issue ?

My PC is experiencing BSOD's with memory related errors, allways a different one. When the issue appeared i did both memtest and the windows built in memory tester checks.Memtest always finds errors but allways in different sectors, the baked in memory tester has found nothing.Initially the PC had dual channel 32gb RAM, i have tried removing sticks, moving them around and from a friend i have received to test a single stick of 32gb stick that is known good from his PC.The issue persists with all the RAM sticks/all combinations so i am quite confident it is not an actuall ram issue. Is there a wa

  2. Issues with total memory size of dedicated available RAM

    Hello Gevorg,

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft Community an we regret for the inconvenience.

From the description provided, I understand that the motherboard you are using has 4 DIMM slots which supports up to 8 GB of dedicated RAM.

To be able to understand the issue better. let us know how are you viewing the total memory size of dedicated available RAM in your PC.

Now, in one case, if you are using more than one module of RAM, and the frequencies at which they operate are not the same. There will be two outcomes:

    • The modules will conflict in terms of DIMM frequencies and it will declare memory failure.
    • Instead of downclocking one or more RAM/s, the motherboard will reject the ones from being accepted.

In order to ascertain if the hardware is correctly configured, I suggest you to check the system information in the BIOS settings. Refer to the manufacturer provided manual to know more about on how to access the BIOS settings.

In another scenario, your computer may also be allocating part of your RAM to other hardware modules, such as your network hardware.

As a secondary workout, I suggest you to increase the Virtual Memory and check if it helps. Follow the steps below.

    • Click Windows key + R to open the RUN command utility and type
      msconfig.exe, then press ENTER.

    • Click on Boot option and select advanced options.

    • Check the maximum memory box and change the value accordingly.

    • Click on Apply and Ok to save changes and click Restart the computer.

Hope the above information is helpful.

    Thank You.

BSOD's related to memory / drivers, increasing in frequency

There have been a very large number of Memtest86+ version 5.01 performed and this is the first possible reset.
It's something that I have not seen reported.
If you can run the test for 8 or more passes it will be useful to rule in /rule out RAM / DIMM / Motherboard problems.

After the RAM testing the next step will be to debug any available BSOD mini and memory dump files.

Memory related BSOD's but not actual RAM issue ?

Multiple BSOD Stop Codes, System File Corruption, RAM Issues

If you even suspect that the RAM may be flaky, then you must eliminate this before moving one. One step at a time. The Windows memory test screenshot you posted indicated hardware issues and the test had not even run. I also note that the RAM you're using was not on the QVL list for the motherboard. They are a red flag for the RAM in and of themselves. I also note from the BIOS image that your BIOS version is old (2019), so it's possible that a BIOS update might be needed for the RAM you're using. Even Memtest isn't a guarantee that your RAM is good, so I'd be tempted to run on one RAM stick at a time. It seems to BSOD quite regularly, so you should be able to tell whether it's just one stick that's flaky or whether none of them are stable (in which case it's a compatibility issue).
