Windows 10: Memory Upgrade for Asus G11CD-K Desktop

Hi All

Planning on purchasing 16gb of memory for my birthday later in February, a few questions do i have to buy the ram that says for Intel 100/200 Chipset? Current ram is DDR4 2400mhz, with timings of 17-17-17-35.

Unsure what motherboard fully supports though in terms of speed, just learning on this Intel system still, main tasks done is some gaming, sometimes video editing, possibly more after i get a Blu-Ray Writer for this system

Windows 10 Anniversary is causing Wifi problems.

I had to ship my ASUS G11CD G11CD-US007T gaming desktop for the second time yesterday to get it renewed. So I can't use the eventvwr.msc at the moment but this msinfo .txt file will have to do.

Slight off-topic. I tried the Resetting this PC option w/ all data wiped and the OS restored to new and it can't refresh. It gets stuck at 1%. Windows 10 Anniversary really ruined my PC. :-(

• Is this a model G11CD device?
• What version and build of Windows 10 is currently installed?
• Are you using the 32bit or 64bit version of the OS?
• Have you installed the latest BIOS and drivers from the ASUS support pages?

 

All you have to get is DDR4 that is supported by your motherboard. Just research the board you want to install the 16GB on.

Just google the board and you should be able to find the specs.

What brand do you plan on buying ?

 

Maybe Cruical, Or Corasir, not sure 100 percent, this system motherboard can't find too much info on though, first DDR4 system, and was Prebuilt Asus G11CD-K system according to Crucial System scanner

 

Give me the motherboard model, I`ll research it and post back what I find.

That`s what Asus has to advertise, because that`s what intel tells them to.

You could put 16 or 32GB 2400 MHz DDR4 if you wanted to.

 

Yeah thinking will go for 16gbs as don't think need 32gb, plus can't really afford 32gb at the moment

 

OK then I would get some Corsair 2400 MHz, get the best you can afford *Smile

Yeah thank you so much for replying, will look into Corasir and check out GsKill prices too, research, order, then install once arrives, then should be all set for a long while

 

Kits come in 2 x 8GB or 4 x 4GB, personally depending on price, I would get a 2 x 8GB kit, you may indeed want to add another 16GB some day, don`t laugh, must of us have. *chuckle

Well only 2 slots on Motherboard, so gonna have to go with 2 x 8gb slots, should make out fine, will let know how all goes

The price of memory, and all PC parts has skyrocketed in the last year or 2 so do your homework before you buy anything.

Kingston or Crucial should be much cheaper *Smile

 

In fact if you could just duplicate the stick you already have, you would only need 1 stick, but the numbers need to match.
