Windows 10: Merge or Sync local Documents folder and OneDrive Documents folder

I have ended up with two Documents folder -- one with a path on my computer and one that ends up on OneDrive. The contents are nearly, but not exactly the same. I'd like to have only the OneDrive version but with the files also stored locally.At some point in the summer I think I changed the configuration of OneDrive from storing only in the cloud to also keeping files locally. I don't know if that is what led to the two different, inconsistent folders. My understanding is that this action should not have led to this.I'm most interested in figuring out how to merge -- and I'm sure that

Why I have TWO Documents folders?

ok so lemme start off my saying i recently wiped my system and installed windows 10
and i noticed even more recently that i seem to have TWO documents folders...
i have one that has nothing that it should in it and the other somehow is linked to Onedrive...
the onedrive linked one has everything that the non onedrive should. (game saves, etc)
my question is...why? is this normal cause i can't imagine it is...
i don't think steam game save cloud will work with onedrive so i need to know, is this fixable WITHOUT another wipe? i have no idea how my onedrive got synced with my documents folder. i didn't set it up that way. any help is appreciated!

How can I STOP OneDrive from syncing LOCAL PC desktop and document folders?

OneDrive MERGED my PC Documents with my OneDrive Documents and it is a mess. It also started syncing my local Desktop folder. OneDrive Settings will NOT ALLOW me to un-sync these folders. I tried managing the folders locally on my PC via right-clicking the OneDrive Icon/Settings, and also tried signing into the browser to try. Neither would allow me to un-sync.

I often keep items on my desktop as I am using them, or want to keep them PRIVATE from OneDrive. I feel like OneDrive is totally over-stepping and has hi-jacked my PC.

I want my USER file manager folders to stay ONLY LOCAL, with the exception of things I intentionally put into my OneDrive folder.

Do I need to partition my hard drive to keep OneDrive from snooping everywhere??

Unfortunately there's no way to select folders within Documents folder to sync or unsync.

Are you actually in OneDrive Settings > Accounts tab > Choose folders? The list of folders you see here is not for choose what to sync FROM your computer to the cloud. Rather, it is the opposition. It is to choose what's already in the cloud to sync TO your local computer. Since this documents > sub folder is already on your computer, you cannot uncheck in this settings.

Your alternative is to unsync the entire Documents folder. Which can be done via Settings > Sync & Backup tab > Manage Backup. Turn off the Documents folder. However, future files you save to Documents folder won't save to OneDrive. You have to manually save those files to the OneDrive folder instead of Documents folder.
