  1. Merge space from 2 different disks.

My Windows C Drive is filling up. I have an external drive with about 4TB on it. I want to either be able to add the 4TB to my C Drive or try to copy everything from the C Drive and put it on the external disk. How can I do this?

How to merge 2 disks into 1?

You need to check to see if it is one disk partitioned into two partitions or two physical discs firstly (a 1TB drive should show at about 932GB)

Go to Disk Management (Windows + X Kets and choose Disk Management from the resulting menu)

Are both marked as being on Disk 0 - look at the screenshot below, one is disc 0 the other is disc 1, this means I have two hard drives, not two partitions

If both are on the same disc, you can merge the partitions, but not with Windows, or better yet do as Lawrence suggests and create a new partition on the drive and merge into that.

If they are showing as different discs you cannot merge or make more space . . .

Try the free AOMEI Partition Assistant, it is in my opinion the most powerful and easy to use free software for this task -

  3. Disk partitions, allocated space

If you want to merge disk space of Disk 0 with 1, sorry that is not possible. They are different hard drives. You cannot merge space of different hard drives.

    Trying to combine disk space

Yes, as suspected, you appear to have two physical drives, one SSD and the other a mechanical hard disk.

The Disk 2 has unallocated free space.

Right click the D: volume on Disk 2 click the ‘Extend Volume’ option on the contextual menu, click ‘Yes’ when the warning appears.

A wizard will now begin that will guide through the steps to merge back the unallocated space with your system partition.

The wizard provides a simple procedure to merge back the unallocated space with the rest of D. Once you have selected the space, click Next, at the end of the wizard, you will see the amount allocated.

Follow the procedures from a my previous reply to partition the drive into two so you can free up space on C:
