Windows 10: Merged Downloads and Documents system folders.

I was trying to clear up some space on my SSD C: and move my Documents, Pictures, Videos and Downloads system folders to my HDD D:.First of all I moved the documents folder loosely to my D drive Properties > Location > Move > HDD > Apply. It worked, but I didn't want the files to be scattered around so I created a folder called UsersD in which i created corresponding folders Documents, Downloads etc. and then I started moving the system folders again. I don't know how, but my downloads folder merged with my documents folder and now even if i try to restore their location to

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

After you have put E:\Documents in Quick access, you can then consider the additional steps in post #11

And this would also be a good time to review your backup planning.

Download and Documents folders merged

There's a hidden, system file in your Downloads folder named 'desktop.ini'. It acquired the settings for the Documents folder when they were merged. Edit the file to match the following:
