Merging Multiple "User" Files from 2 Windows 10 Instances on Same PC

Sometime ago I installed a smaller hybrid HD in my laptop, and because I had an enormous amount of user files documents, custom templates, etc. on the existing HD, I simply kept the larger but slower HD in the laptop by moving it to a 2nd drivebay in the laptop. Not wanting to take a chance of losing any files or data, I did not uninstall windows or make any changes to the HD, I simply moved it.

On the new faster SSD, I installed a fresh version of Windows 10.

Now I have multiple User folders on the new drive and the old drive and now I have a mess where sometimes, I am duplicating folders, but with various versions of the same file.

It is a total mess, so I can't simply delete one and keep the other any longer.

Its even hard to know which "Documents" folder is on what drive, and as I have attempted to sort it out, I have tried changing the location by using the "Move" command in the file properties screens, but this has just made it worse as far as sorting out what I have.

I am about to install a much larger hybrid drive to try to get it all back to one drive. What is the best meaning least risk of losing files to install the new drive and then get the existing user document folders/subfolders from 2-4 different partitions across 2 drives onto a yet another single drive again?

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Multiple Instances of Documents folder Under "This PC"

I'm running the latest version of windows 10 64 bit pro (as of 8/19/15). I've redirected all file folders under my user account to OneDrive, Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos and shared them with the home group. The problem arises anytime I make
changes to any of the listed folders (Cut, copy, paste, new file, delete file) produce multiple instances of the folder that I've preformed the action on under "This PC" in file explorer. Those copies remain there until I close and reopen Explorer. I'm at
a complete loss whether it's the redirect or the share that's causing this but, it's most annoying. I have turned on and off sharing with the home group with no change in behavior. I have searched everywhere I can think of but, cannot find a similar situation.
Any help or suggestions on where to look for help will be appreciated.

    Can I merge 2 users in win 10 pro v 1803

    Hello Dennis,

Merging user accounts is not available. The best option is to move the data of the user account manually to the other user account. I suggest that you copy and paste everything you need over to the default profile you're using.

Once done, you can follow these steps on how to delete a user account on Windows 10:

    1. Press Windows
      key, click on Settings.
    2. Click on Account, click on
      Family and other users.
    3. Select the user you want to delete under
Other users and click on Remove.
    4. Accept the UAC (User Account Control) prompt.
    5. Select Delete account and data if you wish to delete account and the data and follow onscreen instructions.

If you would like me to provide additional advice, simply respond to this thread. I will get notified and I’ll reply to you as soon as I can.
