Windows 10: Metered Network blocks local LAN traffic. The LAN isn't metered, only the WAN. How to...

We have 5 computers on LAN, needing to share data, print, and send workstation backups to a NAS.This LAN has a router using 5G Cellular Hotspot as WAN connection.We've told Windows the it's a metered network to avoid downloading Windows Updates and the like.Problem is our Microsoft Access database keeps warning us it contains Network Links they are local.Our Veeam agent for Windows backup program refuses to work because "network is Metered", but obviously the LAN is not Metered, only the Internet.Surely there is a way to tell Windows that "Metered Network" doesn't apply to the local subnet

Metered satellite connection with LAN network...

Have a metered satellite connection running off a LAN network- Downloaded Windows 10 and it does not recognize this as metered. Now what? Needless to say I removed it and went back to Windows 7 until someone can tell me how to set my METERED internet
downloads so I am not paying extra every month for GBs I do not know I am using...

For what it is worth, I add my vote for Microsoft to fix this problem. I live in a remote area where most people have satellite internet. This is metered but connected to the client computer via LAN in most cases. I have had to suggest that they install
WiFi adapters so they can connect via WiFi just so they can set the connection as metered. This is a ridiculous fix required by Microsoft's lack of understanding of the ways people connect to the internet.

This can be accomplished using REGEDIT for those comfortable editing the registry. See the procedure in

Metered Connection and updates through LAN

Hello,

• I pay for internet access per the amount of data I use, so I have an incentive to conserve data.
  
• I have three home computers, all using Windows 10, on the same Wi-Fi LAN.
• One of those three I take to work and update while on wi-fi there.
• I bring that computer back home in hopes to share the updates with my other two computers.

All three computers are set as follow:

Wireless Network Connection:
discoverable is on and metered connection is on.

Choose How Updates are Delivered:
PCs on My Local Network is on and
Notify to Schedule Restart is chosen

When I click "Check for Updates", this is the message I see:

"Updates are available. We'll download them when you are not using a metered connection, or you can get them now using your current data connection (charges might apply). You might still need to connect to unmetered Wi-Fi for some updates."

And then I have a "Download" button I can click on.

Two Questions:

1. If I click to download, will the updates be taken from other computers on my local network or from the internet?

2. If the answer to #1 above is the internet, is there a way to force my computers to get their updates from the computer I update at work?
