Windows 10: mf plat dll not found

this keeps showing for me ive reinstalled like 50 times i resetted my pc i dont know wat next

DLL Missing

The problem is, that the required DLL is not actually even listed there.
There are just dozens of download adware links from the top to the bottom.

 

Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 (kb3010081) does not install the mf*.dlls

I and others had somehow managed to miss this but kb3010081 has been superseded by kb3099229 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3099229); kb3099229 runs and installs the various mf....dlls that I've needed.

Well I can't find out why running 'Windows10-KB3010081-x64.msu' appear not to install any of the necessary 'mf....dll' files on my system.

I ended up working around the issue of my original application failing to find any mf....dlls by repeatedly launching it while watching for dll finding/loading failures with 'processmonitor': Each time I'd launch the program, I'd see a dll failure logged
somewhere near the end, then I'd search through the extracted contents of the .msu (expand -F:* c:\windows10-kb3010081-x64.msu c:\temp\3010081) for the required dll and plop them in my c:\windows\system32 folder.

I ended up having to copy the following -

mfreadwrite.dll

mfplat.dll

mf.dll

mfcore.dll

before the program would start.

Unfortunately the question of why this kb3010081 doesn't work on my system remains unanswered.
