Windows 10: Mic and audio all messed up after Windows update

Product: HP ENVY Laptop PC 17-ce2010nrAfter recent windows 11 update KB5040527, all my audio and internal microphone drivers have gone haywire. I have uninstalled and restarted and tried everything short of doing the dreaded Windows refresh which I do not want to do..... I noticed today that I am having BT issues now. The other issue you will see is that I have a headphone microphone plugged in and I do not. I do not even know how it got that. Need help desperately!! See below please!

Windows 11 messed up audio devices

Hey all, I just upgraded to windows 11 from 10, and now all my audio devices are messed up. I used to have it as my speakers that are plugged into the front audio port, and my headphones/mic plugged into the back. They were listed as 2 separate devices that I could toggle between. Since I went to 11, it is now showing as 1 audio device only and the audio plays from speakers and headphones at the same time. any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks

Additional Information: If the issue persists, update the audio drivers from manufacturer's website.

My Windows Audio is a Mess

Hi there Punchcard, I will be your Independent Advisor for today, I hope we can both resolve your problem.

What I would suggest for now is to completely remove the Audio drivers listed in the Device Manager. Please make sure you remove all listed under Sound and audio devices.

Here is how to do it.

Here the steps to completely remove a Device off your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10.

Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound and Audio. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.

Step 5. Reboot the computer.

And then please see if there are any improvements.
