Windows 10: Mic barely works / super quiet on Windows 10

Hello,I'm on a Windows 10 desktop, MSI motherboard. I've been trying to connect a mic using the 3.5mm headphone jack both the front one and the rear one to no avail. The microphone is always recognized in device manager, but speaking into it doesn't cause the green bar to go up. I've tried three different mics and none of them work. Interestingly, when I have something like Apple headphones plugged in, when I press the mic button the volume shoots up to max; however, speaking does nothing. When I turn up the mic volume and boost to +30db, speaking loudly registers barely as a green bar. The

Windows 10 Microphone too quiet even on max volume

Recently I upgraded to windows 10 and my mic just became extremely quiet. The mic did for a little bit while I had windows 10, but after a week or so while I was talking over Skype everyone told me they could barely hear me anymore and I tried Skype sound
service and my mic was super quiet. (I'm using the built in mic on my laptop), and I have no idea what's the cause of this problem, I've tried reinstalling my sound cards and updating them as well as using a different mic. No matter what I try the mic is way
too quiet, the only way anyone can hear me is if I talk with the mic practically in my mouth! It's been a terrible issue please help!

The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

 

Microphone super quiet

So Ive tried everything from reinstalling the driver to searching google people seem to not have this issue atleast not the same as me.

My microphone is on a headset but i plugged the headset into the headset slot the computer never understood that it was a Headset/Microphone so i plugged the headset into the Microphone slot and got another headset and plugged it into the headset slot after
that didnt fix the issue i gave up and ended up moving the Mic/Headset into the pink jack in the back of my computer and left the other headset in the headset slot but my issue is no matter what i do my microphone is super quiet and when i boost it. It becomes
a car horn up to your ear that sounds like its in a tunnel how do i fix this or am i in a Pickle??? and what i mean is it boosts my voice but it becomes super loud and at the same time i sound like im in a tunnel
