Windows 10: mic is to high and picks up everything

    Hi Microsoft.


    I have a RedDragon headset with a short fixed mic. somewhere along the line, my headphones sound has gone from perfect to causing headaches. the mic is set so high that even while I type it picks up the keyboard buttons as I press them. when I play my games and try to talk to other players my voice does not go through to them or so it seems. also, the mic picks up my voice and replays it to me with the second delay so as I speak and it plays back I end up speaking slower to compensate for this. I have been on a lot of platforms searching how to fix this issue and all of them came back with a solution to fix low mic volumes and not high. please can someone help me with this issue as this is making my experience with my computer very unpleasant? When I mute the mic on the headset the sound is perfect again. I please need help to conclude this and resolve this.

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
    you.



    • Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
      Advanced tab.
    • Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
      and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
      and hit OK.
    • Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.

    USB Mic Problems.

    The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

    Mic not picking up sound!!!

    Hi, i'm using windows ten and my usb mic is not picking up sound mic is to high and picks up everything :(. The computer is picking up the mic itself but not any sound from the mic. I see the mic in my recording devices but the sound bar on the side is not showing activity when I speak into the
    mic. In sound device properties, in events it says: Device USB\VID_0D8C&PID_0139&MI_00\6&3077f717&0&0000 requires further installation.

    So that might be part of the problem. Anyone know how to fix this?
