Windows 10: mic problems

i set up my plug and play microphone about 2 weeks ago it worked fine. then yesterday my mic stopped working. i look into it its not anywhere in my sound settings. its acting as if its just a regular USB plugged in. Iv'e tried to update the driver to see if theres anything wrong there, says it has the best driver. also have checked my other USB spots and it does the same thing where it reading as a regular USB not a sound option or a microphone option. its a hyper x quad cast mic. its a plug and play not software nothing to be updated. any help would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance.

The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

im having the same problem as well, gone through all the steps listed but still no luck unfortunately.

Headset mic not working

This might occur when some of the mic setting got corrupted.

I would suggest you to try running Recording audio troubleshooter.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Type Troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar and select
  Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Select Recording Audio under
  Sound and follow the on screen.
