  1. Mic volume drops after earraping

Whenever I crank my gain up to max and do the funny micTM my microphone volume drops. I've been googling for over an hour now and I can't find a working fix.

    Any advice?

Adjusting Mic Volume for different programs

Trying to figure this out here. My mic volume has been fine in TS or Skype. But I recently picked up Dxtory and my mic is quiet in there. I have mic volume set to 100 and no Mic boost. I'd rather not use boost, but today I tried it out and it worked fine. Then I realized Dxtory is connected directly to the volume for your mic in Windows. Which is no problem I figured I would just drop down TS and Skypes outbound volume and be fine. Well Skype that works fine with, but it seems I can't in TS. So I'm stuck with 2 programs (TS and Dxtory), both tied to Windows Sound Settings, but one picks up my voice fine and the other picks it up low. I can't think of a way around it, any ideas here?

    USB Mic Problems.

The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

Mic recording volume very low, high pitched whining

Okay, so I have spent the last 24 hours painstakingly going through every single item on this list in order. Nothing here worked. Every scan says nothing is wrong. The hardware is 100% working, because the mic works perfect in another computer, and even
works perfectly on this computer if I boot from my other drive with another installation of windows, and even worked great on this computer just a few days ago. I did do a system restore as part of the steps, however that did not fix things.

During the process, I installed a different audio driver program from Realtek (not really part of the steps), and that managed to *partially* restore the functionality of the mic, in that it got rid of the whining and made things a tiny amount louder so
that I could sort of hear myself. At that point, I created a system restore point, and continued with the steps, however, the whine came back and the recording volume dropped again. I restored back to the point that it was working (sort of) but that didn't
fix it. As I continued through the steps, it passed every single one , saying that there were no problems. BIOS is up to date, everything is updated and according to windows there are no problems. I restarted the services (multiple times because many of the
items on the lists were repeats but I did them all again in the order they all suggested). Have not been able to restore functionality and have not been able to even get it partially working as it was before. None of the updates that were installed were installed
between points that it was working and when it stopped working, so no rollbacks had any effect. I'm completely stumped.
