Windows 10: Microoft Photos App - cannot save trimmed video clips anymore

I have windows 10 and have had no problems with trimming videos using the ms photo app until this week. The layout and screen is now totally different smaller and less icons to what it was a couple of weeks ago. I have tried to reset the app using advanced features, as well as selecting repair the app too. I have checked previous posts about this but the solutions are not working. I only want to use the app to trim and save clips from video footage to process content videos.Something has happened, possibly an update as everything was operating perfectly the other week. I have also downloaded

Cannot save trimmed videos using the Photos App

I have a couple videos that I want to trim down in the Photos App; however, every time I attempt to trim the video, Photos would crash. After crashing, a trimmed file of the video would show up, but I cannot view the new clip.

 

Photos app - trim a video - error

Hello,
I am trying to use the built-in Windows 10 Photos app to trim a video.
I have the video playing in the Photos app and click "Trim Video" at the top.
I move the sliders to select the start and end points.
I click "Save a copy" at top-right.
The app says "It looks as though you don't have permissions to save changes to this file. Try saving a copy instead."
Having just clicked "Save a copy", I am confused as to why this error message is appearing.
I've tried copying the .mp4 to my VIDEOS folder on C: drive with the same result.
Some research has suggested to run the Photos app as Administrator, but I can't figure out how to do that.
Any suggestions on how to trim a video would be appreciated!

Why won’t windows photo trim compress my video files anymore?

Hey guys I’m praying someone can help me because I’ve been using the same method to upload videos for years and now it’s suddenly not working !

So my regular process step by step is…

1. I film my videos on my Sony A6400

2. I plug it into my pc via usb

3. A file pops up in my pc which says “clips” I click on the video (select open in photos)

4. I then select trim and crop the first couple of seconds to then click “save as copy”

5. Normally the trim version just starts automatically saving onto the camera and once it’s finished it also appears in the “clips” file on my pc.

6. I use this method because whilst it’s trimming it usually compresses the copy to a 10th of its size (example a 10gb video is now a 1gb video in its trimmed version.

7. Then I click on the PlayMemories home page and select import media files, the trimmed version is there for me to upload to my pc and use on Adobe premier pro no muss no fuss… usually !

But today when I trimmed the video and selected save as copy as usual in photos trim, it saved the video as the same size as before and not to my camera but to my pc desktop…

I can’t use zip files on this particular pc and the method I’ve always used has been my easy go to for years…

Please help producing videos on YouTube is my sole income and I’m stressed to say the least
