Windows 10: Microphone access non-existent since Windows 10 September Update

Hi all,

So since the September Windows update, I can no longer a use my microphone for either Zoom or Skype, and b my pc says it doesn't or isn't connected to my laptop, this even includes when I use a headset with microphone for calls/talk.
I was last able to use Zoom with no issues on the 22nd of September 2020, and then suddenly, no microphone detected. No amount of google searching, asking for University IT support or reinstalling of Realtek drivers/Zoom/Skype etc.. is fixing it.
I have diagnostic information and other such code information from windows itself, not that I can understand it well, but I believe it may be an security update or something similar.

I thought id ask the internet for help as I would like to finish my degree and present at our Zoom conference in November 2020 without multitasking via a mobile phone and a laptop.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Adding Apps such as Rosetta Stone & Duolingo for use of the Microphone to Updated Windows 10

Hello Everyone!

After the recent mid-September 2016 Windows 10 updates, neither Rosetta Stone or Duolingo can access the Microphone, when they were set up previously. They do not appear on the Privacy List of Settings for the Microphone, and there appears to be no way
to add Apps on this Privacy Settings page. Only the buttons for On and Off in regard to their list of established Apps.

Anyone found a way to resolve this?

windows 10 worth the upgrade?

Cumulative update for W10: September 8, 2015


This is the biggest update W10 ever had. Lol look at the file list.
This is pretty good for those who installed Windows 10 today. Just one update that has everything, no need to install previous updates.
