    Microphone / Audio Disconnection

Hello! I'm currently having some issues with my microphone & speaker that I'd love to get some help on as it feels like I've tried everything already.

    Description of the issue:
Microphone seems to work fine, then randomly it will stop picking up audio. Only way to fix is to unplug/replug or disabling/reenabling device is sound manager. This fix works for a random period of time, then must be redone again. Sometimes I go for 7 hours without needing to fix it, sometimes 20 minutes. I am fairly certain that it is turning off and back on, then bugging out upon turning back on but I'm not 100% sure. I have speakers plugged in, and sometimes I'll hear a slight pop sound which im guessing is the speaker turning off and on and this is also when I'll check my mic to see it no longer functioning Speakers still function normally. When it stops functioning however, it is still seen in the list of input devices, and the microphone in the bottom right corner states that it's still using my mic. Blue snowball being used.

    List of fixes I've attempted:
    - Setting Mic as the default device to use
    - Uninstalling and reinstalling mic drivers
    - Uninstalling and reinstalling USB drivers in device manager
    - Installing realtek audio drivers I thought I had them already, but couldn't find them so I did a clean install
On the topic of realtek drivers, after installing them it seems to pick up my headphones and speaker as the same source, so now the only way for me to use my speakers is to unplug my headset. Would love guidance on how to fix that as well!
    - Going into power management settings and disabling USB selective suspend
    - Resetting CMOS on the motherboard
    - Going into Bios and disabling then reenabling the xhci USB controllers
    - Going into device manager and turning off the ability for the computer to turn off the device for power management Done for all USB devices, USB hubs, and Human Interface devices
    - Updating windows, and NVidia drivers
    - Trying different USB ports
    - Troubleshooting the mic both while it's functioning normally and when it's stopped functioning. Windows detects no issue
    - Ran virus scans, no viruses detected
    - sfc /scannow done as well

At this point the only fixes I can think of are getting a new mic / mic cable or potentially upgrading my PSU? I also feel like I have attempted other fixes, but those are all the ones that came to mind. Thanks so much for any suggestions/help, this issue has been getting on my nerves for a while now.

  3. External microphone not showing in the Recording tab

My Windows 10 laptop is not recognizing any external microphones. I have two headsets: a Bluetooth one and one for an audio jack. Both headsets work correctly on other devices. When I connect the headsets to my computer, I can hear audio, but the microphones
    do not work.

Here are the steps I've taken so far:

    • Updated drivers (they were already up to date)
    • From Sound Settings, headsets do not appear as options for the input device
    • Ran the microphone troubleshooter - headsets do not appear as options
    • From Control Panel > Sound > Recording, headsets do not appear as options. I have selected the disabled and disconnected devices options.
    • From Microphone Privacy, all apps have access to the microphone.
That's everything I found online to fix this problem. Any suggestions?
