Windows 10: Microphone Automatically Mutes After 10 Minutes

My microphone automatically mutes itself around every 10 minutes when it is being used by an app (Discord) or in-game. I would then have to either close and re-open the app/game or would have to disconnect and reconnect my headphones.

The issue does not stem from the headphones because I have tried them on a friend's laptop and faced no issues, and the mic also works error-free for hours on end if it is not being used in an app or game (I checked this from the "Sound Control Panel")

I tried re-installing the drives multiple times, tried re-installing Discord multiple times, tried turning off the energy-saving options - nothing seems to work. I have been facing this issue for over a year now and I try to fix it every once in a while but fail. I'm hoping that this forum could help me in finding the solution

microphone mutes itself

When i go into properties the mike is muted. When I unmute it works for less than a minute then mutes again. The only suggestion I have found is set as default device which does not solve problem. I have also read it is a virus but I cannot solve with malware or virus scans. It first became a problem just a few weeks ago while skyping. Never had a problem with mike until then.

Troubleshooter finds the microphone muted and fixes, Within a minute the microphone mutes itself again.

Microphone mutes itself

I have tried both a USB microphone and one using the microphone jack and both mute themselves after working for a couple of minutes. I unmute them and they go right back to being muted. There seems to be a lot of discussion on forums over the last few years
since Windows 10 was introduced about this problem but I have not found a solution that has worked. Any suggestions here?
