Windows 10: Microphone cuts out in voice recorder

Hello. I have been having some problems with using my headset, which works perfetcly fine everywhere else. It is a 3 year old HyperX headset. I first noticed this when on a discord call, i kept speaking but my overlay would light up green and therefore, was not registering my voice. I then tested on voice recorder and it turns out it cuts out mid-sentence.During testing, i was saying "aaaaaa" for about 4 seconds, however audio cuts off at about 2 seconds. Have tested with many other microphones and the problem persists. The laptop is a HP victus HP gaming laptop 16. Everything is up to date in

You may follow the below steps and check.



1. In the Search option of the taskbar type “Microphone privacy settings” without quotes and press enter.

2. In the right side, make sure “Let apps use my microphone” slider is
on state.

3. Also make sure Windows voice recorder app is turned on in the “Choose apps that can use your microphone” section.

4. Now restart the Windows voice recorder app and check.



You may also follow the below steps and check.



1. In the Search option of the taskbar type “sound” without quotes and press enter.

2. Click on the recording tab, Select the “Microphone” and click on Set as default.

3. If you don’t see the microphone listed, Right click on the blank/empty space inside the recording tab.

4. Make sure “show disabled and disconnected devices” are tick marked.

5. Follow the step 2.
