Windows 10: Microphone detected but no sound is picked up. (tried editing the privacy settings didnt help)

Every post about this ever keeps saying to edit your privacy settings to allow apps to access the mic. this was never off for me so idk if its my problem. in the control board my computer detects the mic, but there is no indication of it detecting sound from it. the speaker in the headset works fine its just the mic. the mic works fine on my laptop. I used windows update to download the driver for it but that didnt help either.

Microphone detected, but not working in any software. Privacy settings is OK.

I have a pretty uncommon problem with my laptop, windows detects pick up sound when activating listen to function, green bars bouncing, but any other app doesn't pick up any sound.

I've tried:

• Setting device as Default
• Reinstalling Audio Drivers
• Rebooting Windows
• Editing the Settings of Programs
• Setting the Maximum Volume(100%, +30dB)
• Using the Troubleshooter to find any problems, but with no luck
• Change privacy settings.

  Lenovo 320-15ikb. Also lenovo vantage settings have mic ON.

 

Microphone not detecting sound anymore

Ok so the troubleshooter didnt find any problems. I did note that the computer had no jack information listed for my microphone while there was another microphone listed with the plugin jack located in back, so i dont know if that could be a problem?

Ive tried the setting as default device before but for some reason i dont see that option. when i right click it only gives me configure speech recognition and disable.

ive also tried setting up the microphone before and when i reach that sentence nothing happens because the microphone isnt picking up any sound.
