Windows 10: Microphone does not work

I tested my microphone in my computer, I see green bars when I check the driver and the blue bar moves up and down when I test it in sounds. So it works, yet when I use voice recorder, camera video or any online program my voice is not recognized or I hear nothing in the playback. Now I checked privacy settings and enabled everything. I troubleshooted the microphone, but it says everything is fine. But Cortana, voice recorder, camera video or any of my desktop apps cannot access the microphone even though I already gave them permission. Is there any way to fix this because it was working last Friday. After I updated my computer to take a test as I usually do, on Sunday it has not worked since. I followed all the instructions in Cortana can't hear me, yet none of them work. I would appreciate a solution to this problem.

External microphone does not work

The issue could be because of the microphone being in a disabled state. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works:

• Open Control Panel and categorize to view by
  Small Icons.
  
• Click on Speech Recognition and navigate to
  Advanced Speech Options > Microphone > Advanced
  
• Check Real Conexant HD Audio, save the changes and exit
  Control Panel.
  
• Restart the machine to see if the microphone works.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.
