Windows 10: Microphone doesnt work while gaming

Hi, i have an asus strix laptop, being playing some FPS lately. My friends could hear me well up until yesterday, when a system update completely ruined my experience. I'm playing with headphones, alternatively galaxy buds pro or sony wh1000xm3. Never had a problem with those mic before. Now my sensitivity is extremely low, most of the time the mic fail to pick up any noise and i have to raise my voce a lot to be heard. Weirdly enough when i go in windows audio input test the bar barely move. If i go on sound recorder app it picks up extremely well. Inside the game the bar moves well over 50%

microphone on the headset doesnt work

I have same headset as well. But to be sure mine is the Kingston HX model # HX-HSCS-BK.

I can hear other players while in a online game, but I cannot talk to them.

How do I get the mic on my Kingston headset to work?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.
