Windows 10: Microphone not picking up high pitched sounds

Hi guysI recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 11. My fiance is a streamer and we use this for operating our streaming software OBS Studio. For the most part the sound has worked fine both with the external microphone we typically use as well as the laptop microphone itself, however for some reason all high pitched sounds are being cut out she streams a lot of horror games and so there is a bit of screaming which she ideally wants to be picked up in the recordings ha ha - sometimes laughter is cut out as well. I have spent a lot of time tweaking the settings in the streaming softwar

Friends sony laptop makes a high pitched sound and have to disable microphone so she can use it.Would be grateful if anyone could help because she can't use Skype as microphone is disabled

Windows inbuilt microphone only registering high pitched noise?

Sometime ago my windows microphone stopped working. When doing audio tests it seems to only register high pitched sound. My laptop model is Acer Aspire F5-573. How should I go about fixing this?

Microphone issues

Hi Michael,

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

• Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
  
• Corrupted or outdated driver
  
• Faulty device
  

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
  
• Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
  
• Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?
  

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see
